Activision has officially announced the delay of the highly-anticipated "Covert Exfil" feature in Call of Duty: Warzone. Initially set to debut with the Season 1 Reloaded update, the Covert Exfil was designed to offer players an alternative victory path by allowing them to escape via helicopter, providing a unique twist to the battle royale experience.

What Went Wrong to “Covert Exfil”?
Originally, the developers planned for players to purchase covert exfils from buy stations before the gulag closes, with a limit of five per match. Once purchased, a helicopter would swoop in, offering a chance for players to exit the battlefield before the traditional match conclusion. While not constituting a conventional "win," it presented an exciting alternative for survival beyond being the last player or team standing.
In a surprising twist, Activision also aimed to introduce a high-value weapon case tied to covert exfil. This addition would have seen players vying for the case, calling in a covert exfil, and exiting the match prematurely, introducing a new layer of strategy and excitement to Warzone.

Fan Backlash Prompts Swift Response
Despite the ambitious plans, the response from the Warzone community was swift, with fans expressing concerns over the concept of exiting a match without achieving the traditional victory condition of being the last team standing.
Raven Software, the developer behind Warzone, clarified that while they still believe in the excitement these features could bring, they will be integrated into a dedicated mode rather than the main battle royale experience. Raven Software expressed eagerness to embrace the challenges these features present and anticipates continued player feedback once the mode becomes available.
In addition to these developments, the Season 1 Reloaded update brings a host of other enhancements, including a new core multiplayer map for Modern Warfare III, Rio, and a DLC Operator from The Boys. Players can also look forward to the Supe Siege multiplayer event, making Season 1 Reloaded a comprehensive and dynamic update for Warzone and Modern Warfare III enthusiasts.
