The next game from indie hit Bastion developer Supergiant Games Transistor finally received a release date, and is due out on PC and PS4 May 20, 2014.
The title looks similar in style to Bastion, with distinct art and an isometric view of the action. Players control a singular hero from above, engaging in frantic action with a variety of enemies, Unlike Bastion, Transistor has a futuristic, neon-tinged setting.
The game features real-time gameplay in addition to "Planning Mode", wherein main character Red can pause, issue a series of commands, and then watch those actions take place. The story as we know it focuses on Red, a singer who comes into possession of The Transistor, a powerful sword that an entity known as The Process desires. The story unfolds as Red and The Transistor are pursued by The Process.
As far as we know at this time, the title will not be released for Xbox One. However, this could change in the future, as games limited to certain platforms at launch will often expand to other systems down the line.
Transistor made its big reveal at last year's E3 with a fantastic trailer that you can watch below. It features a great original song, which shouldn't be surprising to those familiar with Bastion, which blew players away with a few surprisingly placed impactful tunes and an overall great soundtrack. We can look forward to playing the game sooner than I think most people expected, in a little over a month.
