Dave the Diver Offers First-Ever DLC for Free

Dave the Diver is an adventure RPG where you play as the titular character in search of fish during the day while running a very successful sushi restaurant at night.

Just recently, developer MINTROCKET released Dave the Diver's first-ever DLC called "Dredge" and it is being offered free of charge if you already own the base game.

New Content

There is a ton of new content that is in store for you in the Dredge DLC. First and foremost, it introduces the Dredge System, which allows Dave to dig at certain locations to obtain items that were previously hidden.

In addition, Dave can now drive his boat on foggy nights. Maybe you can ask someone to run the sushi restaurant for you while you are out?

Anyway, when you go fishing on foggy nights, there will be three new diving locations you can go to. Upon arriving in these spots, you will have a chance to capture the new "Aberrant Fish." Although you can use harpoons to catch it, doing so may require several tries before you can achieve success. Because of this, you might want to utilize the new Drain Gun, which you can acquire just by playing the Dredge DLC.

This new type of fish is important because it serves as your way of trading with the new Traveling Merchant NPC.

Various Improvements

One of the things that makes Dave the Diver interesting is that you can summon a Beluga Whale and use it to go to underwater places faster. In the Dredge DLC, the company has implemented some improvements to make the "Beluga Taxi" so much better.

For one, the Beluga Taxi can be used until the end of a diving session, which means that it will not go away until you go back to the surface. Besides that, so long as you're underwater, the whale will actually wait for you. It no longer disappears even when you enter or exit a building.

If you somehow forgot where the Beluga Taxi is parked, it is now marked on the minimap for your convenience!

MINTROCKET also included some performance optimizations. The game now loads faster while starting the client, as well as when entering your highly successful Bancho Sushi restaurant.

Speaking of the restaurant, the Bancho Sushi will look more lively than ever to celebrate major occasions, including Halloween, Christmas, and New Year!

Here are the other major improvements that have been implemented:

CONTROLLER

Adjusted where vibrations of controllers were implemented awkwardly and added missing vibrations.
Adjusted the icon UI of the 'L stick' with controllers for better user comprehension.

UNDERWATER EXPLORATION

Added more locations for Crab Trap placements.
- More crab traps can be placed in the same region.
Eased up on the difficulty of the fights with Thresher Sharks.
Improved the animation of when Dave is carving fish so that he can cancel it right away in case he needs to react to other aggressive fish.
Loading screens in-between regions will now show a customized display.
Added a motion where Dave looks into the camera after a Photo Spot mission.
