Do you want to play and explore Sea of Thieves without constantly being on the lookout for enemy pirate crews? If so, you might want to update your game client as soon as you can. That's because the latest patch introduced a new feature that lets you enjoy the game in peace, along with other friends if you desire.
Travel the 'Safer Seas'
When you open Adventure Mode after updating Sea of Thieves, you will now be presented with a couple of options: the "High Seas" and the "Safer Seas." The latter is a new game mode that sets you in a private world where you and a few of your friends can set sail in the vast ocean without encountering hostile players.
Safer Seas allows you to enjoy most of the content in the game except for those that involve player vs. player combat like Faction Battles and The Reaper's Bones. According to Mike Chapman, Creative Director of Sea of Thieves, this new mode is a way for you to experiment and explore the game at your own pace.
However, there are some important things that you need to know about Safer Seas. First, you will still get reputation and gold by completing quests and voyages from most Trading Companies, albeit at a significantly reduced rate. Second, the maximum rank you can achieve in Trading Companies is capped at level 40, which means that you will not be able to get quests and commendations from Athena's Fortune while playing in this mode.
The restrictions have been deliberately put in place so that you will be encouraged to take on the High Seas as soon as you get acquainted with the game's mechanics. The "High Seas" is basically the normal version of Sea of Thieves prior to the launch of Safer Seas.

Other Changes
When Season Ten launched back in October, it introduced a new feature called "Guilds" which allows you to join a group of like-minded pirates, with the goal of achieving things under one banner.
Having said that, the game's most recent update has made a notable change where if you are unable to join a guild, you will now be sent a notification telling you the exact reasons why.
If you utilize the game's Aim Assist Audio accessibility option, you will now notice that the audio effects are much clearer, giving you a much better indication of where to aim your cannons.
