Leveling up weapons can be a chore in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Fortunately, the game now unifies your weapon progression across all game modes, meaning, you can level up your guns in a "safer" environment where you won't get killed by campy players.
Why Leveling Your Weapons is Important
Before anything, why should you even care about weapon progression in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III? If you're new to the franchise, leveling your weapons up is important because it allows you to equip attachments to make them even more effective.
If you find yourself unable to equip a new scope on an assault rifle, for example, it's because the weapon does not yet satisfy the level requirement for that specific attachment.
Lookout for Weapon XP Tokens
Now that you know why weapon progression is crucial in Modern Warfare III, what should you do to level up your favorite guns faster? Well, the first is to be on the lookout for double XP Tokens. Although the game offers a variety of XP tokens, you should constantly keep an eye out for "Weapon XP Tokens" in particular when they become available.
That being said, completing the game's main campaign is highly encouraged as it rewards you with double XP Tokens. Not only that but you can also get new operators, weapon blueprints, and Calling Cards for your efforts.
The battle pass provides you with double XP Tokens as well. You can even get more if you purchase the premium.
Once you've obtained some tokens, how can you use them? Head to the pre-game lobby in Multiplayer and in the section where you can select a playlist, press the Shift key on the keyboard or the left stick (L3) when using a controller.
Aside from XP Tokens, Activision will occasionally host double XP events, meaning you can gain more experience points when you play during those periods. Be sure to log into the game to take advantage of such events.

Complete Contracts Successfully
Contracts in Modern Warfare III Zombies Mode are challenges that give you weapon XP and Essence Perks when completed. There are eight different contracts that you can accomplish; some are difficult, while some are fun and easy to do.
Among the eight, there are three that are considered the best for XP. The first is "Spore Control" which is a type of contract marked by a little egg icon on the map. The objective of this contract is to eliminate weakened Spores by throwing inhibitors at them. You can obtain some inhibitors from a Loot Cache somewhere on the map.
The second contract is "Escort." As the name implies, this contract will have you and your squad escort an ACV to a certain destination. Be careful as you will encounter hordes of zombies along the way.
Last but not the least is "Deliver the Cargo." This contract is the easiest to complete. Simply deliver some precious cargo via a car from one point to another. The trick is to throw a Decoy Grenade to get into the garage where the car is parked.
