Fan Creates A God Of War Ragnarok-Inspired Custom PS5 Design

A God Of War Ragnarok fan has created a custom PS5 concept inspired by the game, and it looks absolutely majestic to behold.

Images of the concept were posted to Twitter recently, and it is even more amazing up close:

Artists who go by the names Anderson and Debora were responsible for creating the design. The God Of War Ragnarok-inspired look features an overall rock-themed look for the PS5's cover plates and main unit. According to GameRant, the design is an obvious reflection of the in-game architecture in 2018's God Of War, which were in turn inspired by real-life stone works of Nordic tribes - including the iconic Vikings.

The main unit of the PS5 prominently features the Omega sigil, which has been the icon that represented the entire God Of War franchise through the years. And to cap things off, both of the covers features an icon with a bear and a wolf in it. The bear obviously symbolizes Kratos, while the wolf is is son, Atreus.

But if you want the custom PS5 look for yourself before God Of War Ragnarok launches, you're out of luck. The artists themselves haven't said if this custom design will be made available to everybody as a body kit. They did mention in the art, however, that it is an "easy installation kit" which increases the sting of not getting it for your own quite a bit.

Either way, this is once again proof that God Of War Ragnarok is one of the year's biggest and most anticipated game launches (if not all-time). The release date for the game was finally revealed to be November 9th after numerous rumors of delays and teases from Santa Monica. The constant clamor for the game's release date to be revealed even caused fans to become hostile towards the devs, which prompted Santa Monica director Cory Barlog to call them out.

The sequel is set to further explore the true identity of Atreus, and will see him and Kratos come face to face with Tyr - the Norse God Of War - in preparation for Ragnarok, or the end of days in Norse mythology.

Customizing Your PS5

The custom God Of War Ragnarok design is just one of many ways that you can customize your brand-new next-gen console from Sony. Sure, it might not be available for general purchase, but other design choices are already out in the wider market by virtue of official colored face plates:

Each face plate set costs $55 a pop, and comes in five "galaxy-inspired" colors as you can see in the video. But if for some reason you feel like this isn't enough, there are also a handful of other custom face plates for sale in other markets such as Etsy. 

Going to the website right now, you can see custom PS5 face plates featuring notable PlayStation games such as Spider-Man Miles Morales, The Last Of Us Part 2, and yes, God Of War. But there are also covers whose designs were patterned after classic PlayStation consoles, like the original PS1 and PS2 as shown here:
