There's so much news from Nintendo after today's Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct that it's almost hard to pick what most to be excited about, but a Poké-centric reveal at the end of the show today will certainly have Pokémon masters all over the world excited.
Charizard and Greninja will be playable characters for the first time, including Charizard's Mega Evolution from Pokémon X (and possibly Pokémon Y, but only his black and blue form was shown).
Charizard has previously appeared in Smash games, at first as a special Pokéball power, and then in tandem with Ivysaur and Squirtle as part of the Pokémon Trainer's trio of playable characters in Brawl. But now he will be taking his career solo for the first time. The Charizard launch trailer at the end of the Direct was pretty epic, and included a clash between he and Mario (pictured above).
Greninja is also making an appearance, obviously his first for the series since he was only introduced during Pokémon X and Y as the evolution of starter Pokémon Froakie.
In other Pokémon news, it was revealed that there will be special Master Balls that drop in addition to Pokéballs in the two new Smash titles. The Master Balls will contain rarer and more powerful Pokémon, like Arceus or Xerneas. The list of Pokéball Pokémon that were confirmed during the Direct are as follows:
-Arceus
-Meowth
-Electrode
-Eevee
-Staryu
-Metagross
-Fennekin
-Meloetta
-Gogoat
-Entei
-Deoxys
-Palkia
-Kyurem
-Victini
-Keldeo
-Xerneas
