The Steam Deck is a cool gaming device to have. In its release earlier this year, many have already claimed that the Steam Deck is definitely a must-have for solid gamers. This newest device from Steam is a favorite among young adults because it is very comfortable to hold, it is sturdy and light, and it also has a large 7-inch screen.

The device can let its user access a huge library of compatible Steam games, but the Steam Deck, unfortunately, has really poor battery life. Many users have already claimed that the device could only endure a few hours of run time before charging. In some cases, its battery drains in just barely 2 hours of continuous use.

In this article, we gathered the best tips on the internet to help your Steam Deck have the most of its battery life. Now, enjoy playing for hours on end without having to pause and recharge every now and then.

Improve Your Steam Deck Battery Life With Custom Settings

According to Wired, it will help your device to run faster when you adjust its frame rate settings. Putting a limit on your Steam Deck's frame rate will help it run smoothly and avoid frequent lagging. The 60-Hz display that comes with the Steam Deck has 60 frames per second maximum FPS. This is a standard benchmark, particularly for fast-paced games, but not all games require the rendering of 60 different graphics every second to be fun. In fact, you might not even be able to tell the difference between 30 and 60 frames per second.

You can access the tools for changing the frame rate by pressing the Overflow menu, next is Performance, and navigating to Advanced view.

You may extend battery life by changing the screen brightness of your device. Fortunately, the Steam Deck has a feature that allows for dynamic brightness. However, you should take precautions when making frequent changes to your device's brightness because doing so could potentially speed up the battery's depletion. If you choose to reduce the brightness of your device, just do so to the point that you can still see the screen and play without any difficulty.

Digitaltrends also shares a useful tip. Just like any other device, you can also save battery usage for the Steam Deck by limiting the power and GPU Speed. Limiting the Steam Deck's overall power and GPU speed can significantly extend battery life without compromising performance, although it may take some trial and error. Both can be found in the Quick settings menu, and depending on the game you're playing and the frame rate you want to achieve, you'll need to experiment with the precise numbers.

Users Can Extend the Steam Deck's Battery Life Without Setting Changes

If the device really cannot handle your gaming patterns, what you can do is use a portable battery. Yes, a portable battery. According to a hack from Newsazi, the Steam Deck comes with a 45-W charger. Thus, it is safe to assume that the closer your battery pack can get to a 45 W output, the quicker it will charge. A full charge or two will be provided for the Steam Deck by most batteries designed to power tablets or even laptops.

Another option could be choosing games with lower frame rates or smaller games that do not drain your device in a jiffy. But most of us do not want to be limited to a few options, especially with gaming. I mean, what is the use of an almost infinite games library if you could not try each and every one of them?
