A new rumor from a very reliable source indicates that there's a Star Wars KOTOR remake delay. So if you're eagerly waiting to get your hands on the much-anticipated remake, you might have to wait a little longer.
That reliable source is Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who recently tweeted that a major "studio shakeup" has caused the project to be paused "indefinitely." As reported by IGN, the Knights Of The Old Republic remake hit some snags with Lucasfilm and Sony during a demo viewing. Developer Aspyr Media is now reportedly looking for "new contracts and development opportunities" as of the moment.
Here is Schreier's tweet:
NEWS: The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake is indefinitely delayed, Bloomberg has learned. Developer Aspyr abruptly fired two directors this month and told staff that the project is on pause as it tries to figure out what comes next. https://t.co/3NUlKkenR6

The demo shown to Lucasfilm and Sony executives reportedly struck a nerve. It was said that the head honchos weren't too pleased with the vertical slice demo (vertical slice means all of the game's intended features are showcased at once), and the fact that there's a massive amount of money spent making it, reports PC Gamer.
But that's not the only trouble in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. The report also indicates that Aspyr has fired Jason Minor, the game's art and design director. There seems to be no clear reason for the dismissal, though Minor himself has mentioned that he was fired unexpectedly from the project. For now, it remains unclear whether the project will even move forward at all.
If it does move closer to launch, then the release year will be roughly 2025, as reported by Polygon. That is, if circumstances even turn out right, which as of right now isn't true on a lot of fronts. This would mean that from its rumored development beginnings in 2019, the KOTOR remake will spend a total of six years in development.
News of the Star Wars KOTOR remake delay is a massive blow to fans of the original 2003 game. Considered as one of the best (if not the best) Star Wars games ever, the OG Knights Of The Old Republic has maintained a cult following even almost 20 years on. But many of these fans, even the most avid ones, do agree that the game is a little hard to appreciate now due to its age.

Star Wars KOTOR Remake Delay: Just The Latest?
Look, it feels bad that news of the Star Wars KOTOR remake delay is out. But it feels even worse to know that this isn't the only big Star Wars game having development problems.
Perhaps the other biggest one is Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse. Back in March, rumors started popping up that the game will be delayed to "at least 2027," which is basically forever in the game industry. But Quantic has gone on record to say that Eclipse is, in fact, not delayed - though there's no way of confirming if this is true or not. We digress.
But don't fret. It looks like not everything is delayed in the Star Wars video game universe. Star Wars Jedi Survivor, for one, recently had its official Steam page pop up. According to a separate PC Gamer report, there were also indications that the game is well on its way to a 2023 release window. So it's not all bad - at least for now.
