LOOK: This Red Dead Online Player Exacts Sweet Vengeance On The Ones Who Killed Their Horse

Red Dead Online Griefers Get Owned In A Player's Sweet Act Of Vengeance

A Red Dead Online player (yes, it's a bit weird now but carry on) encountered a few griefers who managed to kill them, along with their horse. This is an annoying thing to do especially if you make it clear that you're not interested in fighting, but the aforementioned player managed to exact a cool instance of revenge.

GameRant reports that the player, who goes by the name CMDRAaron on Reddit, basically went all Rambo mode on these griefers. Using explosive arrows while the enemies used guns, CMDRAaron went to town with these folks while staying in defensive mode. Here is a video of them exacting that sweet, sweet revenge, posted on the Red Dead Online subreddit:

For the unaware, Defensive Mode is Rockstar Games' solution to people wanting a griefer-free Red Dead Online experience. With it turned on, other players can't lock on, use auto-aim on you, or even deal additional damage to you by doing headshots, writes Half Glass Gaming. But even with this measure in place, some people in online games will still continue to be d***s and grief you for giggles.

This was the same sentiment echoed by the commenters on CMDRAaron's post. One of them say they're still confused as to why people would still think of shooting defensive mode players, when technically they really can't do any major damage to players using the mode. Defensive mode is still a moot point among RDO players, but we digress as it is a topic for another time entirely.

Either way, CMDRAaron's act of revenge is a good way of dealing with griefers who don't have anything better to do. Maybe these folks will then learn their lesson to not attack a player in defensive mode out of the blue, as these people are just looking to have a good-enough experience without someone bothering them too much.

But perhaps that's really the only thing they could do in the game at this point, because Rockstar Games has seemingly abandoned RDO in favor of other projects like GTA Online and the now-confirmed GTA 6.

Isn't Red Dead Online Already Dead?

Players were already holding "funerals" for RDO recently, because Rockstar Games themselves have confirmed that they're "winding down" development work for it to focus on other projects.

As reported by GameRant, this claim came with the most recent July update for RDR2's online mode. But while content is slowing down, it doesn't mean development is being completely abandoned. Rockstar still promised a wave of new content coming to Red Dead Online for the rest of 2022. This includes several monthly events, bonus XP for completing specific missions, as well as other incentives. New Telegram Missions are also planned for this year.

Despite that, players are agreeing in unison that RDO is, in fact, dead. As reported by IGN, a few people held an in-game funeral back earlier this month. Red Dead RDC community hub leader Magnar said that the inevitable death of Red Dead Online "felt prophetic."
