After the low-key disastrous launch of the A380, Intel's Arc A750 is trying to right the ship into Team Blue's favor. And maybe it's got a good case this time - albeit a still underwhelming one.
The new desktop Arc GPU is now being billed as slightly faster than NVIDIA's RTX 3060, though only in some games. As reported by IGN, these games are said to be "a small subset" of titles that "work very well with Intel Arc and the Alchemist architecture." As for the actual games where the Intel Arc A750 won against the 3060, it's F1 2021, Borderlands 3, Fortnite, Control, and the notoriously demanding Cyberpunk 2077.
The company revealed these performance numbers in a recent video, where they showed Cyberpunk 2077 running on the aforementioned A750 desktop GPU. Here is the video:
As you can see there, they only benchmarked Cyberpunk at 1440p with the High graphics preset. The game performed at just above 60 FPS on average, which Intel claims is 15% better than the NVIDIA RTX 3060 at the same resolution and graphics settings.
Then, they showed bar graphs for the other games, which they should've showed in person just like what they did with Cyberpunk. Either way, performance claims for the Intel Arc A750 show it is allegedly 17 percent faster than the 3060 in F1 2021, 14% faster in Control, 13% faster in Borderlands 3, and a tiny 0.6% faster in Fortnite - not sure why Intel even included that, but okay.
But while the performance gains itself can be a little underwhelming, the comments on Intel's video were relatively encouraging. Many people are just excited that NVIDIA and AMD's duopoly is at an end. Furthermore, they're also hoping that the price-to-performance value of the Arc desktop GPUs are pretty high, since competing products are still pretty much overpriced.
Team Blue didn't share much on the A750's hardware side, but they will eventually have to reveal more details down the line.

A Much Better Showing
To say that the A750 is a far better showing for Arc desktop GPUs is a massive understatement, considering how their first release was in every bit terrible.
The Arc A380 was the first true release of the Alchemist desktop GPU line, though it weirdly only launched in China for still unknown reasons. Many people got excited about the card, until they found out just how terrible the performance was.Granted it was an entry-level GPU, but its performance was just so bad it couldn't even beat the universally maligned RX 6400 from AMD - or even a 3 year-old NVIDIA GTX 1650, as reported by PCGamer.
Aside from the poor performance, the A380's first outing also showed a few software troubles. This was discovered by the tech YouTube channel GamersNexus, who noticed a few irregularities in performance when testing different graphics APIs and game engines:
Either way, the Intel Arc A750 does have a chance to upend NVIDIA's (and AMD's) hold on the mid-range GPU market, assuming its pricing is very disruptive.
