During the recently concluded Apex Legends Global Series 2022 Champiopnship in Raleigh, North Carolina, pro player Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen decided not to get a kill on an unsuspecting opponent. His reason was quite simple - and noble if you think about it, considering his reputation in the Apex scene.
A member of the enemy team (SCARZ) was suddenly disconnected in the middle of the $2 million tournament, and instead of shooting at him, ImperialHal plain refused. According to PCGamer, a member of Dosen's TSM team wasn't actually pleased with his decision (it is a high-stakes competition after all), but fans online quickly took a liking to his "show of mercy."
Here's a clip of the incident, shared on Twitter by user @alphaINTEL:

As you can see there, the opposing player was clearly standing motionless out in the open - clearly not something you'd expect a pro Apex Legends player would do in an official tournament. You can clearly hear Dosen tell his teammates to not shoot the player because "he crashed."
However, ImperialHal's TSM teammates were still quite worried about the opposing player's peers, who might be laying a trap where the disconnected player got stuck. They eventually decided against going to the beacon close to where the enemy player got disconnected.
Either way, the two teams still had a relatively good showing during this year's Apex Legends Global Series championship. While they didn't exactly win the title (the $500,000 top prize went to DarkZero), TSM still managed to qualify for the finals alongside SCARZ, writes DotESports.
At the conclusion of the tournament, TSM finished at 11th place and earned $72,000. SCARZ, on the other hand, finished 11th and went home with $24,000. That's still a pretty good haul, and the fact that they both qualified for the finals of ALGS 2022 means they're still two of the top Apex Legends pro teams in the world.

Not in ImperialHal's Character?
Any Apex player would've taken that shot. The guy was a sitting duck in the middle of a darn championship match, where both money and bragging rights are at stake. But Dosen still opted to not take the shot, which is something that a few people might consider as not part of his reputation at all.
In a video by theScore esports, they took a closer look at the career of ImperialHal as an Apex Legends pro and mentioned how he has a tendency to be reportedly pretty toxic on comms:
Despite that kind of reputation, ImperialHal is still undeniably good at what he does. Jumping from H1Z1 to Fortnite and then to Apex, Dosen actually mentioned that he never even wanted to be a pro gamer. He only thought of gaming as a hobby at first, and never as a full-time job. But when he made the jump to Apex, his skills basically allowed him to blow up and be one of the most recognizable head-clickers in the scene.
Perhaps he might've thought to himself that it's "dishonorable" to shoot somebody who can't defend themselves. But one thing is for sure: he exhibited extreme restraint, because every other Apex player (more so anybody else who competed in ALGS 2022) would've taken that shot.
