As reported by GameRant, the leaked footage was shared via a now-deleted Reddit post that was reportedly banned by EA themselves. Redditor u/Parzalai has found a workaround on the videos being taken down, creating a new post where they shared Google Drive links to the footage-there's a total of four-showcasing the game's intro video, as well general gameplay on-skateboard and on-foot. We can't show screenshots of the videos here, so just go to the links that Parzalai shared.

The first video (the intro) introduces players to Skate 4's "Fun City," which EA calls a "persistent, massively multiplayer social hangout." It shows a lot of multiplayer characters just hanging out and doing some on-foot and on-board tomfoolery. Since there's on-foot gameplay, the intro video talked about "new offboard controls" that will reportedly allow players to create new tricks.

The second video features what looks to be four different game modes. There's a mode for just free skating and challenges, an exploration/sightsee mode, a creative building mode, and a hangout/social mode. It also shows off two different control schemes on an Xbox controller: Classic and Simplified.

The Classic control scheme puts the Ollie/Jump controls on the right stick, and gives the option to stop and push with the B and X buttons. And on Simplified, the move/push/stop action is bound to the left stick and the Olie/Jump cotrols are bound to the A button, freeing the X and B buttons to potentially be remapped. Just think of the equivalent ones on the PlayStation controller and you're all set.

As for the third and fourth leaked Skate 4 playtest videos, it shows off around a minute of on-foot and on-board gameplay with tricks, collisions, and ragdoll physics. It looks quite intuitive as the controls are on Classic mode, with twirling the right stick resulting in you able to do ollies easily.

All in all, the leaked Skate 4 playtest footage show that the game is still in very, very rough shape and far from finished. So you'll have to wait just a bit longer.

What The Leaked Footage Means For Skate 4 Moving Forward

Even if the gameplay was rough and clearly in early development, there's a fair amount of positive things to take away from it.

According to Kotaku, off-board traversal looks to be so much more improved. This is a far cry to the shoddy off-board controls found in Skate 3, which they say greatly limited player mobility without their skateboards. They were particularly fond of Skate 4's controls allowing players to slide and somersault as much as they want, meaning that the controls look to be quite precise and snappy.

They were also seemingly fond of the fact that it will not be a solitary game - as it should. It looks like Skate 4 is going to have multiplayer as its main focal point, because technically that's what skating communities are in real life: communities. People get together to enjoy, perform cool tricks, compare their skills to others, and just hang out.

There's no release date or window for Skate 4 yet.
