SPOILER ALERT! TURN BACK NOW!
In Cyberpunk 2077, you get to meet the eponymous rocker Johnny Silverhand (played by the amazing Keanu Reeves) and maintain some sort of relationship with him. Even if, of course, he's technically just a voice in V's head. And not a lot of players know that V and Silverhand's relationship have a far more reaching effect on the game's multitude of endings - specifically because it unlocks a so-called "secret" eding.
Many publications have said that unlocking the ending (also known as the "Stars" ending where basically everyone lives) requires that you raise your Johnny Silverhand friendship in Cyberpunk to 70%. But just how exactly do you even do that? Well, this guide aims to answer that question.
Finding The Friendship Level And Unlocking The Secret Ending
First off, you need to see what the percentage level is of your Johnny Silverhand relationship in Cyberpunk. IGN writes that to do this, press the I key on PC, the touchpad on the PlayStation, and the View button on Xbox. Three icons will pop up, and the middle one will display your current relationship level.
Second, a bit of clarification: raising your friendship with Johnny Silverhand to 70% will NOT explicitly lead to unlocking the secret ending. What it does instead is inform how other characters react to you. So nothing too groundbreaking, but keep in mind that it does in some way help if you keep things civil with him, even if he's the one being aggressive at the start.
Next up is the meat of the pie. Everything you do in these seven missions will help raise your relationship level with Silverhand:
- Automatic Love - Just listen to what he has to say and don't choose any mean responses. +10%.
- Transmission - DO NOT take the Omega blockers, listen to what he has to say and avoid any mean responses. +5%.
- Life During Wartime - Avoid rude responses to Johnny while interrogating Helman. +5%.
- Search And Destroy - Talk to Hanako's proxy doll and agree to help each other. +5%.
- Blistering Love - Stay flirty with Rogue and try to romance her as Johnny. +10%
- Holdin' On - Keep Kerry happy and help reunite Samurai. +10%
- A Like Supreme - Play the gig with Kerry and Samurai. +10%.

The Most Critical Choices To Make
There's another quest in Cyberpunk 2077 called Chippin' In, wherein you get to visit Silverhand's grave in the middle of nowhere. Picking the right responses in this quest will raise your friendship level the highest at +15%, and will let you unlock the secret ending in one fell swoop.
According to GamesRadar, this one quest has perhaps the heaviest implications to the story. That's because you choose even one wrong answer, somebody will die in the ending mission. As such, it is absolutely important that you pick all of these dialog options, which are divided into two categories: Johnny's night out, and the oil fields.
Choices for Johnny's Night Out
Pick Tequila Old Fashioned when Claire asks what drink you want. That's the Silverhand Special.
- The other.
- [Right] or [Left]
- [Punch] Fuck, how I missed this.
Choices For The Oil Fields
After this, Johnny's gonna convince you to drive to the oil fields outside of Night City, where his body was buried rather unceremoniously. He's then going to start talking about his past, to which you'll respond as follows:
- Let's do something about that.
- The guy who saved my life.
- Nah, fucked that up too.
- What do you want from me?
- OK. But as second chances go, this is your last.
- You were a real dick in the beginning.
- When you said you let down your friends...
- Smasher biz really got to her.
- Yeah, I'll call Rogue.
Here's a video from GameSpot showing these dialog options in action:
What About The Secret Ending?
For the secret ending, you'll need to let the game play out until you get to Vik's clinic. From there, Misty will take you up to the balcony overlooking the city, where you'll have to decide which people will help you storm Arasaka tower.
DO NOT SAY ANYTHING for around 4-5 minutes, and Johnny (who V is actually friends with now) will suggest that you go on a suicide run by yourself in the mission Don't Fear The Reaper. But be warned: make sure V's gear and weapons are at their absolute best, because dying before you get to Mikoshi will send you straight to the credits. No redos here. Just a game over.
Follow this guide to the letter, and you will have improved your Johnny Silverhand friendship in Cyberpunk 2077 AND unlocked the secret ending.
