How To Become Better At Elden Ring (Aka How To Git Gud)

Here Are Four Tips To Git Gud At Elden Ring

Look, Elden Ring is a hard game to beat. Everybody knows this. It is a Soulsborne title after all, and FromSoftware really takes pride in their games' punishing nature. But it doesn't have to be too hard for you, if you know what you need to do to "git gud."

Don't miss these best mods that you can use in "Elden Ring."

This guide will aim to help you do just that. That's because it's never enough to just practice hard: you also need to practice smart. So without further ado, here are the best things to do in order to git gud at Elden Ring.

You DO NOT Have To Kill Everything

Your goopy little gamer brain will always want to kill something. Well, if there's one thing you should know about this game, it's this: don't. More so if you're only just starting out because frankly, that opening Grafted Scion tutorial boss is meant to kick your behind.

According to GamesRadar advises that you should just sneak by or outrun most things that try to kill you. You do have a fast horse in Torrent after all, so use your steed to escape (especially the tougher ones). Pick your battles, ensure you won't lose when you pick fights early, and you'll get to keep your extremely valuable Runes.

Pick Up Everything You See

FromSoftware designed Elden Ring to be an open-world game with a crafting system. And in a game like this, there will always be crafting resources to collect. PICK UP EVERYTHING YOU SEE, writes PC Gamer. FromSoftware did put an inventory limit to the game, but it's often unclear how much your Tarnished can actually carry at one time. So go crazy.

Make it a habit to clear out everything in a path if you're going to a certain point on the map. By doing so, you'll have enough crafting resources to make things like arrows, forebombs, and even summoning items so other players can help you out. Hoarding is an essential part of any open-world RPG, and Elden Ring is no different.

Roll TOWARDS An Enemy, Not Away From It

While this might seem counterintuitive (you're trying to not get hit after all), rolling towards an enemy will get you four distinct advantages, according to YouTuber Nizar GG (check out the 2:03 mark in the video below):

This goes out mostly to melee-heavy builds, but will also work with other builds as well. As per the video rolling towards an enemy will make it easier/faster to: resume your attack pattern, flank/backstab, dodge any lunge or thrust attack more effectively, and use a gigantic enemy's weakspot.

UPGRADE Your Weapons

Elden Ring might have a loot system where you can find better weapons, but the thing is, these weapons don't pop up as much as you'd want them. So take a look at the weapon you already have, and do everything in your power to upgrade it, according to GamerTweak.

This is where our second tip comes into play (picking everything up). If you've made it a habit to pick up everything and anything you see, you will likely have enough crafting resources to upgrade your weapon. You'll find better armor easier than finding a better weapon, so stick to what you have and beef it up.
