A new rumor is saying that after spending so long in apparent development hell, the multiplayer pirate game Skull And Bones might finally launch in November of this year.
As reported by GamesRadar, the leaked Skull And Bones release date is said to be on November 8th. This was revealed by Microsoft/Xbox store listing leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia on Twitter. It might be easy to dismiss of this rumor outright, but prominent industry insider Tom Henderson apparently replied to it with a single green check mark.

For the unaware, Henderson has made a name for himself revealing mostly accurate information about upcoming games - with his most prominent being the details he leaked ahead of Battlefield 2042's release that proved real. Him replying to the original tweet with a check mark could indicate that he's either seen or heard the same information.
However, this leaked release date for Ubisoft's multiplayer pirate game could still be inaccurate if taking into account other related rumors. In a separate report by Polygon, the game's official release window courtesy of Ubi was before March 31, 2023. That's the end of the company's 2023 fiscal year.
Furthermore, the game has also been rated by the ESRB as M For Mature as indicated by a recent update to the authority's website. If a game gets an ESRB rating, it's almost always a clear indication that it will release sooner or later. The game has already been rated by the Brazilian, South Korean, and United States classification boards as well (via VideoGamesChronicle).
Either way, it looks like the game finally has wind upon its sails (pun obviously intended). That's because the same Twitter leaker has also revealed apparent pre-order bonuses for the game:

What's Taken Skull And Bones So Long?
Ubisoft originally revealed Skull And Bones way back in E3 2017. In gaming industry terms, that's basically ages ago. There wasn't much about it after it was revealed aside from this gameplay video showcased the year after:
It looks pretty much like what Ubi has done in its bread-and-butter series, Assassin's Creed, with AC3, Black Flag, Origins, and Odyssey. As such, many players were actually excited about such a game that focuses only on sailing and doing pirate-y stuff. However, the game would be met with delay after delay, leading some to think that it may have been canceled.
To quell rumors, Creative Director Elisabeth Pellen wrote an open letter to fans back in 2020 detailing what's happened to the game (via Ubisoft News). According to her, the team "simply needed more time" to work on the game. They had really big dreams for Skull And Bones that brought about "bigger challenges," which caused the multiple delays.
This is a very generic answer to say the least, but it looks like the development team has finally gotten their bearings. More and more signs that Skull And Bones is releasing are popping up, and perhaps it's only a matter of time before the game is finally out.
