New details on the Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix show have recently surfaced, and it looks like it's going to be in good hands (albeit there's still no early casting choices).
PushSquare reports that some info on the TV series' crew have popped up, and they're going to be graced by veterans with experience working on Amazon's The Boys and The Expanse, another Netflix show. The information was shared by game journalist Jeff Grubb on Twitter, where he shared a link that reveals the apparent title: Horizon 2074.
Here is the crew for Horizon 2074. This confirms the name as well as filming in Toronto. As I reported previously, the show will likely be set in Toronto as per conditions of tax incentives. https://t.co/J20WWdtRN6

The link that Grubb shared points to the Director's Guild of Canada, which seems to indicate that at least a good chunk of the filming will be done in Toronto. The Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix show already has a bevy of Art Directors, Assistant Directors, a Production and Location Manager, and a Production Designer, to name a few.
First Assistant Director Jack Boem was part of the crew for The Boys, while Art Director Michelle Brady worked on The Expanse. Both shows were quite successful in their own right (though one could argue that The Boys could be the more well-known of the two), which bodes well for the success of Horizon 2074.
Grubb also revealed that the title itself indicates the show will be split in two: one timeline covering the pre-apocalyptic event, and the other one covering the events after the apocalypse. As such, the series could show both Aloy and her "mother" Elisabet Sobeck in tandem, perhaps with the events of their lives intertwining with each other across time. If you want a primer of the story of the first game in particular, check out our Horizon Zero Dawn recap to know who these characters are.
Aside from that, Grubb also said in a recent episode of the Giant Bomb podcast that the series will not be a reboot, remake, or reimagining of the original games' stories. Instead, the Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix series will happen "in parallel" and will explain a lot of the other things that have already happened in the games.
There's no official release date for Horizon 2074 yet, as it is still in early development.

Sony PlayStation's Foray Into The Small (And Big) Screens
The Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix show is just one part of Sony PlayStation's lucrative investment into media beyond video games. That's why they have a dedicated wing called PlayStation Productions for it.
Zero Dawn is part of a very intriguing live-action pipeline featuring all first-party Sony PlayStation exclusive games, as reported by Variety. It joins the likes of God Of War, HBO's The Last Of Us, a Twisted Metal series, and even a Ghost Of Tsushima movie being helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
These shows are coming after the box office success of the Uncharted film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which likely made Sony realize the profit potential of live-action, non-game media.
