An Assassin's Creed 1 Remake/Remaster May Have Been Leaked

Some fans are saying that there might have been clear hints to an Assassin's Creed 1 remake hidden in Ubisoft's livestream, and here's the so-called "evidence." 

As reported by ComicBook, the aforementioned hints were comprised of several things. The hints were posted by notable Assassin's Creed page AccessTheAnimus on Twitter, which has earned over 1.1k likes at the time of this writing:

• Different definition/saturation for the original AC1 trailer from 2007
• A new logo purportedly intended for the first game says, "Assassin's Creed: A Ubisoft Original"
• The last game mentioned in the multiple-month roadmap of Assassin's Creed celebrations is the original game, which is slated to be the focus for September.

So many fans have actually asked for an Assassin's Creed 1 remake for a while, which they want to come after the previous remasters of other games (AC3, Rogue, and Liberation). But a remake will be an entirely different thing from a remaster since it would mean the game itself will have to be rebuilt from the ground up - perhaps using one of Ubisoft's more recent engines.

Remakes of old games have been quite the talk of the town recently. There's The Last Of Us Part 1 for PS5, the Resident Evil 4 remake from Capcom, and a lot of other things. It makes sense for Ubisoft to jump into the nostalgia bandwagon for the current gaming generation. But until this is confirmed, all of it will be mere speculation.

What Fans Want From A Potential Assassin's Creed 1 Remake

The first Assassin's Creed game, despite its flaws, was hailed as the start of a gaming revolution. As a result, so many gamers (especially long-time fans of the franchise) look back on it with a certain fondness while also imagining what a full Assassin's Creed 1 remake could look like using modern technology.

A certain post on the Assassin's Creed subreddit yielded a few fan suggestions about a remake of the first game. Looking at the comments, they do have a few ideas - some more useful than others:

Perhaps one of the biggest changes they want, aside from the visuals, is giving Altair the ability to swim. This has long been a meme in the Assassin's Creed community and a neck pain. Fans remember a specific mission with one of the targets, Sibrand, who was hiding out on a boat, and the only way for Altair to reach him was to jump on poles - all while avoiding detection.

Aside from that, fans also want an updated parkour system that features "fluid, fancy moves" combined with tightly packed cities. This is where AC Unity's revered parkour system (or something similar) could work wonders, among other gameplay and graphical improvements.
