Game Dev Tycoon has more than 34,000 user reviews on Steam as of press time. These reviews are generally described as "Overwhelmingly Positive" by the platform.
A Steam user who goes by the handle Senarin says in a review that the game "has taught me a lot about how consumers and reviews influence which games succeed and which don't."
Another Steam user who goes by the handle kingoo1 points out that Game Dev Tycoon has a very good replay value, especially if you consider that the game is not sandbox game. kingoo1 also says that the many strategies a player can use bumps up the replay value even more and wishes for DLCs for the game to be released in the future.
