The folks of FaZe Clan have finally exorcised their demons from the 2018 ELEAGUE Majors in Boston, after a thrilling grand finals victory over NAVI in the recently concluded PGL Antwerp Major.

According to DotESports, FaZe Clan has now won its first CSGO Major title ever, which also makes the team the first international one to come out victorious in a Valve-sponsored CSGO event. The team won against NAVI 2-0 after prov ing that they can handle the pressure against a very tough NAVI side, which was comprised of Ukrainian and Russian eSports legends.
Here are the highlights of the match, where FaZe member Håvard "rain" Nygaard showcased his insane skill during the first few minutes and almost all throughout. He basically had the number of Ukrainian star and CSGO legend Oleksandr "S1mple" Kostyliev early, which put a bit of pressure on NAVI. But S1mple was able to turn the tables afterwards, giving rain a run for his money:
But not to be outdone is Finn "karrigan" Andersen, who managed to help FaZe keep their lead in Inferno by scoring three kills in an insanely tough 2v4 situation. Eventually, FaZe won the first map 19-16 after weathering NAVI's storm.
By the next map, which was Nuke (a NAVI pick), Natus Vincere was once again kept at bay my rain who managed to keep control of the map's yard area by his lonesome. It was another close game until karrigan eventually won it after taking down Valerii "b1t" Vakhovskyi to cap things off.
When the smoke killed, the match's heavy-hitters were rain (as expected) with a 52-40 K/D, though the topmost player was Helvijs "broky" Sauktants with a stellar 53-37 K/D.
This victory can be considered a major redemption for FaZe, after their uncharacteristic meltdown during the 2018 ELEAGUE Major in Boston where they lost to massive underdog Cloud9. They were leading 15-9 on Inferno during their match, and so many fans called it one of the worst choke jobs in eSports history.
What This Victory Means For FaZe Clan
As previously mentioned, this win is a major redemption for FaZe - specifically karrigan and rain, who were part of that 2018 team that lost to Cloud9. At the sound of the final buzzer, karrigan finally won his first Majors title after first starting out in the pro scene back in 2006.
It was also only fitting that karrigan keep FaZe from choking again, since he was also the one who helped propel the team to the finals in a big way. It was his knife kill against Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov of Team Spirit in the semis that catapulted FaZe to the final against NAVI:
Just by going to the grand final, FaZe already had a milestone as it was only their second Major Grand Final stint as a team, as reported by TalkESport. By taking Natus Vincere down, they also solidified their new reputation as a global CSGO powerhouse.
