Almost three months on, Elden Ring players are still having way too much trouble trying to beat Malenia. But at least this one person got something out of it.
After trying for a grueling 206 attempts, Elden Ring player and Redditor Durza got a custom-made plaque from their roommate celebrating the "achievement." The image of the plaque was posted on the game's subreddit recently, where it has already earned over 23,000 upvotes and over 400 comments at the time of this writing:
This plaque is basically proof that Malenia, Blade of Miquella, is perhaps the absolute toughest FromSoftware boss ever designed, writes GameRant. Because how many other video game bosses will require you to die this much before you finally take them down? Also, the feat of counting how many times Durza died to Malenia's attacks is also impressive on its own, if you think about it.
It could be safe to assume that Durza (whose apparent real name is Carson based on the plaque) took several days to try to take Malenia down. And other Redditors who commented on the post perhaps had the same kind of experience, with one user saying it took them 3 days to defeat the optional Elden Ring boss.
One user asked what level Carson was and what playthrough he was on. He said he was level 126, with his first playthrough being a blind one. As such, he never knew what was in store for him when he went in to challenge the Goddess of Rot, though he did mention that he always knew she was in the game.
For now, trying to beat Malenia in Elden Ring with the fewest attempts possible seems to be one of the foremost goals for any player of FromSoftware's latest open-world romp. The fewer attempts it takes for you to beat her, the more notoriety you gain. And if you manage to defeat her in your first attempt, then you might as well be a god among mortals.

Is Malenia Elden Ring's (And FromSoftware's) Most Difficult Boss Ever?
So many people right now that Malenia is Elden Ring's and FromSoftware's most difficult boss ever, and it's not even close. But perhaps a recent update made her even harder to beat.
According to ScreenRant, Elden Ring's update 1.04 bugged Malenia's self-healing ability and made it even more powerful. Instead of needing to hit you to heal, she doesn't have to anymore - she can just heal whenever she wants. With this bug, you can literally blast through all your health flasks and make your hands hurt just trying to stay alive.
Heck, even the absolute beast of a player called Let Me Solo Her, who can basically beat Malenia in his sleep at this point, took 242 tries before he was able to take the Goddess of Rot down. That's far below Carson's 206 attempts, which now makes the latter's accomplishment even more impressive if you think about it.
Have you beaten Malenia in Elden Ring yet?
