Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Unreal Engine 4 Remake Looks AMAZING

Watch Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Run On Unreal Engine 4

The game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is one of the most iconic games of all time, and for a good reason. It was basically the first truly open-world game with 3D graphics by our modern standards, and its replayability was second to none back in the day.

But have you ever imagined how it would look like on modern hardware and using a relatively modern game engine? Well, this fan did the actual work of modernizing the now 24-year-old game. A new video from YouTuber CryZENx of the Ocarina of Time remake showcases the progress, and it is looking mighty impressive so far:

According to GameRant, this new update comes mere months after the previous progress video was uploaded back in December 2021. This means that work on the project has been quite smooth, though there's no official release date revealed for it yet.

As you can see in the trailer, the game looks what a modern remake of a classic game should look. Sharp, detailed textures, a silky-smooth frame rate, and a modern take on what was basically the gaming industry's first 3D-rendered open-world map.

The game's combat also looks to have been remade, including features such as dynamic fog and water effects that would never have been possible on the original N64. However, CryZENx did say that some features, like 3D clouds, tend to tank the game's performance and would need to be turned off if you want a really smooth experience.

Lastly, the game appears to have a local multiplayer option that allows players to do co-op. There's a 4-person co-op at most, with the feature working in a split-screen format, not unlike something out of the Halo games of old.

CryZENx reportedly has been working on the project for a decade. And by the looks of things, they seem to be finally turning out well.

Not The Only Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time Remake In The Works

Considering the legendary status of Ocarina Of Time, it is not surprising to note that this isn't even the only remake project in the works. Another YouTuber, who goes by RwanLink, has remade a section of the game using Epic's newer Unreal Engine 5.

As reported by WCCFTech, the project was done to reimagine different [game] environments as if they exist in real life using UE5, writes the remake's developer. Here is a video of it in action:

Once again, the modern graphics engine's visual fidelity shines in this rendition of the equally iconic Lake Hylia. If you showed this to somebody back in 1998 during the release of Ocarina of Time, they could very well be speechless at just how gorgeous the graphics are.

Either way, these two fan projects are making Legends of Zelda fans drool with excitement at the possibility of an actual, official remake from Nintendo.
