While the updates themselves are relatively minor, they could change how the game handles for so many players. According to GameSpot, some of the biggest changes include the addition of a motion blur toggle, improved loading times, and fixes to specific issues with the PS5 and Xbox Series hardware.

The option to toggle motion blur on or off is perhaps the biggest change coming with Update 1.56 for GTA V next-gen. This graphics option does what its name says: it adds some blurring to the edges of the screen when something is in motion.

When used the right way, this can make car gameplay feel more detailed - which is why so many fans have requested it to be added ever since the next-gen versions of GTA V were announced. However, it is not something that all fans agree on, especially PC players who have been dogged by this option due to how overpowering it can be.

Motion blur is a major option implemented on games running at low frame rates (30 FPS). This is to give the game a sense of "smoothness" when it is in fact, not as smooth as 60 FPS. Considering that GTA V next-gen has a Fidelity Mode on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, motion blur can be a great addition if you want to run your game at the highest possible resolution - but without the feeling of it chugging.

Aside from motion blur, the game also introduced fixes to issues concerning things like the DualSense controller's adaptive triggers. As per the patch notes on Rockstar Games' website, Update 1.56 fixes a bug that can cause adaptive triggers to be too strong on the Hao's Special Works updated Grotti Turismo Classic supercar on GTA Online.

On the Xbox side, the update fixes a problem where players will have no game audio while in an Xbox party and the lack of radio audio and audio problems that occur after opening the Xbox guide in-game.

More Updates To GTA V Next-Gen

Kotaku shared other noteworthy fixes and changes that came with Update 1.56, and they're quite the doozy. Here are the ones you should take note of aside from the ones we already mentioned:

  • Fixed broken car shadows on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
  • You can now hide activities on the map if you feel like it's way too cluttered
  • A major boost to Night Club earnings

But perhaps one that really caught the eye of some players is the apparent addition of next-gen files to the PC version of the game. This led many people to believe that PC players are also going to get their native next-gen versions of Rockstar Games' now nearly ten-year-old opus, though there's no clear indication of this happening soon.

Still, on the subject of PC, some players have also noticed that Update 1.56 may have brought some compatibility issues with a handful of mods. Considering how GTA V is one of those games with the biggest modding communities, this is an understandable pain in the neck for PC players.
