If you've been meaning to try out PC Game Pass for a while but are unsure how to start, maybe this free trial deal could help.
According to PCGamer, Microsoft is giving away a three-month free trial of PC Game Pass for anyone who plays either of these three games: Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, or Age of Empires 4. But the catch is that you need to have played these games between their respective launch dates and Feb. 28.
The release dates for each specific game are as follows for your reference:
- Halo Infinite: Released on Nov. 15, 2021
- Forza Horizon 5: Released on Nov. 5, 2021
- Age Of Empires 4: Released on Oct. 28, 2021
It's a small release window (just a few months), so check whether you own either one or all of these games and played them within the specified time frame while logged into your Microsoft account. This doesn't include any log-in you made on the console or on cloud gaming.
If you did, then you get access to PC Game Pass, the PC equivalent of the basic Xbox Game Pass, for three months. To claim your prize, you need to visit the site xbox.com/trypcgamepass between Mar. 14 (1:00 P.M. UTC) and Apr. 30 (12:59 A.M. UTC), according to Xbox.com.
However, this is only available for those who had never subscribed to either Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass for PC before it was renamed PC Game Pass earlier this year. So if you previously owned a subscription on PC before but canceled your membership, you're not eligible.
Once the 3-month trial ends, you'll be charged the current membership rate via your credit card, which is required.

Is PC Game Pass Worth It?
If you subscribe to PC Game Pass now, you'd be paying $9.99 per month. But originally, you can get your first month for just $1 if you sign up, making this three-month free trial a great way to try things out before you start paying. And considering a three-month membership costs around $30 at most, it will also help inform your future purchase decision.
So, is PC Game Pass worth trying? The short answer is yes, according to a review by Business Insider. It presents the greatest value proposition for "regular" PC gamers who spend a considerable number of hours playing.
Among the best things about this subscription is the apparent peace of mind. There's always a chance you won't like a game that you buy for full price. But with Game Pass, as per Business Insider's Sarah Saril, you don't have to be scared of that as it "takes out the risk of trying new games." Every single game that the service offers can be played at no extra cost, so you don't have to feel guilty about spending as much as $60 (or even $70) for a game you hate.
