If you're a fan of "He-man," "Thundercats," and "She-ra," get ready for some glorious 80s action as Beamdog releases Mythforce. The team behind "Baldur's Gate" 1 and 2 Enhanced editions has just released their first original game, a first-person rogue-lite RPG based on 1980s Saturday morning cartoons.

"Mythforce" will be available for early access exclusively on Epic Games Store on April 20.

The 80s Makes Glorious Comeback in 'MythForce' Trailer

They released a trailer that would bring a strange sense of nostalgia to anyone who grew up in the 80s, complete with electric guitar riffs and 2D characters. There's even a catchy theme song, just like any good 80s cartoon. See for yourself below:

In the trailer, we see a group of armor-wearing heroes from a distant planet, some of which are clearly lifted from "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" as they fight monsters and zombie armies using spells and swords. We also see a glimpse of villains, who specifically look like Evil-Lyn and Beast Man.

"I'm beyond excited to finally show off our team's original work," Beamdog CEO Trent Oster said in a press release.

"MythForce is pure, unadulterated fun - right out of the Saturday mornings of my childhood. With a simple yet satisfying game loop, it's a big departure from the RPG classics we're known for, but the Beamdog DNA is evident if you know where to look."

"Mythforce" will have an Early Access Launch event next week on April 20. The games will be in episodic format and will begin with "Episode 1: Bastion of the Beastlord."

You can play as one of the four playable characters who specialize in wielding weapons and casting magic spells. You will go through a series of challenges as you explore ancient ruins and fight against the dark forces of evil. The game can be played solo or by up to three players in an online co-op. More episodes will come in the future.

'MythForce' Will Be A Feel-Good 80s Adventure

"Heroes level up as they explore the dungeon, unlocking different perks for each playthrough, as well as special rank upgrades that carry over to new sessions," according to the press release. "Procedurally-generated maps with randomized encounters and loot keep each playthrough fresh."

Just like any good old rogue-lite game, players have to start over at the beginning each time they are defeated. However, each game makes you a bit stronger and will add to your progress.

Oster promises that MythForce will be "a feel-good game that speaks to the kid in us," according to an article by GameSpot. The early access will also serve as an opportunity for the company to collaborate with players in bringing their 80s vision to life.

Beamdog is known for reinventing older RPGs for much newer gaming platforms. 90s games such as "Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment" have all received re-releases for modern consoles such as iOS, and Nintendo Switch. These releases were well-received by fantasy gaming fans, especially by the "Dungeons & Dragons" community. Mythforce will be the first original title by Beamdog since the company was established in 2009.

"Episode 1: Bastion of the Beastlord" will hit Early Access exclusively on the Epic Games Store next week on April 20. It will be released for PC only.
