Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Are Still Coming, Confirms CD Projekt

Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Are Still Coming, So Hold Tight: CDPR

Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the worst launches for any video game ever. That's a given. But underneath all the flaws, many people agree that there was a great game in there somewhere-and they want to experience more of it via DLC expansions.

The next-gen patch for Cyberpunk 2077 (Patch 1.5) has already come and gone, and fans of the now somewhat-redeemed game are asking for updates on expansions. And according to a recent report by WCCFTech, developer CD Projekt Red promises that the expansions are still coming, although they still did not give even a vague release window.

What quest director Pawel Sasko confirmed, though, is that the development team is hard at work on reviewing new quests "on a daily basis," alongside "new content," which he didn't give details about.

Sasko mentioned the positive fan reception for Patch 1.5, saying that this is giving the team "incentive" to further improve the game to show their appreciation to players. He then closed his statements by saying that it's all he can tell folks, for now, confirming that CDPR is indeed developing the much-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 expansions as we speak.

Sasko's words are as follows: "We are working on stuff for you. I cannot tell you anything about our future plans, but I can assure you that we are working on expansions-we're working on stuff for you guys."

What Is Known About The Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions?

These recent comments from Sasko reiterate the ones CD Projekt Red already made back in March, as reported by GameRant. However, an announcement involving Witcher 4 revealed one striking confirmed detail about the Cyberpunk 2077 expansions: they won't be using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.

This means that the upcoming big DLCs will still be made using CDPR's proprietary REDengine. They made it quite clear in this recent tweet:

Cyberpunk 2077's 'Renaissance'

So Cyberpunk launched terribly and put CDPR's once gilded, stellar reputation on a nosedive. That's no secret. But the other thing that's not a secret is that it is going through a redemption arc of sorts.

A year's worth of fixes seems to have finally put the former-maligned game into a much more satisfying state-one that many gamers argued should've been the state it launched in back in 2020. According to Tom's Guide, massive new gameplay additions have added a layer of polish to Cyberpunk that is sorely missed on launch day.

They praised how the game's recent additions like the option to change your appearance after the intro, improved AI reactions to player actions (which are night-and-day), and access to more in-game items like new apartments to buy. There's a whole laundry list of improvements brought about by Patch 1.5 that wouldn't fit in this article, so here's a video explaining it all:
