In a swift turn of events, gamer and rapper IShowSpeed was banned from "Valorant" by Riot Games after making discriminatory remarks toward a female player during a game. The Youtuber has made an apology for his behavior, saying that he was simply "not having a good day."
The clip of his outrage went viral and caught the attention of "Valorant" and Youtube, who quickly addressed the incident.
IShowSpeed Banned From 'Valorant' Due to Sexist Comments Against Player
IShowSpeed is a popular Youtube gaming streamer who began his career in 2016. He mainly plays "Fortnite" and "NBA 2K" games. He also sometimes plays other games such as "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Super Meat Boy."
He rose to prominence in 2021 because of his eccentricity and verbally violent behavior towards other players or to the game itself. IShowSpeed is also one of the biggest and fastest-rising streamers on Youtube, with currently about 7 Million subscribers.
He became the subject of memes that circulated online, seemingly illustrating the typical gamer rage. That very rage, however, caused him to be banned from playing "Valorant" and potentially from Youtube itself, according to a report by Kotaku.
Esports commentator Jake Lucky posted a video clip of IShowSpeed on Twitter. In his caption of the video Lucky said, "I now understand why Valorant queues are so unbelievably toxic. You got one of the most popular streamers on YouTube IShowSpeed saying crap like this and getting nothing but praise and laughs. Crap is whack."

The video shows IShowSpeed raging at his teammates and at a female "Valorant" player. He screamed at the female player, telling her to get off the game and do her husband's dishes instead. This came after an enemy player defeated him.
The video caught the attention of "Valorant" game producer Sara Dadafshar, who said that she "went ahead and permabanned" the Youtuber from "Valorant," as well as from every other game by Riot. Youtube's Global Head of Gaming Lester Chen also responded to Lucky's tweet, saying that he's "on it."

IShowSpeed Offered Apology After Incident
As soon as the clip went viral, IShowSpeed apologized. He said this behavior was wrong and revealed that he was also getting racist comments from other players as well. He said that two "Valorant" players told him that "only the white characters can heal" in the game.
This is not the first time that IShowSpeed was banned on a gaming platform. In December 2021, his Twitch channel received a permanent suspension after appearing on an e-dating show by Twitch streamer Adin Ross. In the stream, he threatened to sexually assault social media influencer Ash Kaash if they were the last two humans alive, according to a report by Inven Global.
Rash behavior and verbal violence are not uncommon in the gaming industry. Players resort to trash-talking against their opponents and even their own teammates to either demoralize them or to release frustration. With the rise of streaming platforms, trash-talking seemed to have become a source of entertainment for viewers.
In 2016, "League of Legends" streamer Tyler "tyler1" Steinkamp, was banned sentenced to an indefinite ban by Riot Games due to abusive behavior. The ban was eventually lifted after Steinkamp "reformed" himself.
