Horizon Forbidden West Player Kills A Thunderjaw In THREE SHOTS Despite Massive Weapon Nerfs

Horizon Forbidden West Nerfs Didn't Stop This Player From Three-Shotting A Thunderjaw

Horizon Forbidden West is not as tough of a game as, say, Elden Ring. But while Guerilla Games' recent decision to nerf the game's legendary weapons might've made it a little harder (especially on more serious difficulties), this player said, "boo hoo, poor you."

As reported by GamesRadar, Forbidden West player DewyMossEmpire posted a video of them taking down a Thunderjaw-one of the toughest machines to beat in the game-in three shots. Three. Shots. Furthermore, they claimed that the feat was achieved under the game's Hard difficulty setting, complete with video proof to show that the achievement was legit.

The player posted the gameplay video on the Horizon subreddit, which has heard 441 upvotes and 201 comments at the time of this writing:

As you can see there, DewyMossEmpire used three shots from a likely super-souped-up Spike Thrower, which were also perhaps filled to the brim with weapon coils for extra damage. Aside from that, the player was also able to land the shots exactly where they wanted them-in, in the Thunderjaw's weak spots on the head.

Lastly, the player noticeably used what looks like the Power Shots Valor Surge, which temporarily amplifies all ranged damage once activated. But aside from the apparent buffs in the video, they didn't show the specifics of their character build in terms of how much damage they accrued through skill points.

Here is the video proof that DewyMossEmpire indeed achieved the feat on Hard difficulty:

What Did Guerilla Games Do?

If you check the comments on DewyMossEmpire's post, many users were confirming that the Legendary tier weapons of Forbidden West have indeed been nerfed as a result of the new Update 1.09. Some folks were saying that Legendaries are now "just about on-par" with Purple tier weapons, which are on the next-lowest rung of the ladder.

As a result, many Forbidden West players have expressed their disappointment with Guerilla Games lately. In another report by GamesRadar, some users were saying that the nerfs on Forbidden West's Legendary weapons were "mildly irritating." The weapons' overall damage outputs were nerfed, but their stats were also limited even if they were upgraded.

Some players were also saying that even if they spent hours grinding out the upgrades to their weapons, the ending stats weren't better than their normal gear.

Not every player wasn't fond of the nerfs, though. Some folks say that the damage reductions to legendaries were "pretty inconsequential to gameplay," meaning you won't feel a significant drop in Aloy's damage output as long as you managed to keep your weapons upgraded-and Aloy's skills with them.

What Other Changes Did Update 1.09 Bring?

So, Horizon Forbidden West's Legendary weapons were nerfed. That's the worst part. But it doesn't mean that Update 1.09 didn't bring some welcome fixes. Guerilla Games posted the patch notes on the Horizon subreddit, where they revealed a handful of fixes for specific main quests, side quests, and performance issues like long loading screens and crashes:
