A new "GTA 6" rumor from a game industry analyst is basically saying that the game will have an insanely massive scope-something that few games have ever seen before.
The rumor came from analyst Michael Pachter, who works at the firm Wedbush Securities, writes WCCFTech. According to him, the sheer scale of "GTA 6" is what's causing it to be delayed so much-and frankly, what he said about the game is mind-boggling to think about.
Pachter revealed in a YouTube video that the next "GTA" game would feature multiplier locations from all previous games in the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. So that means mainstays such as Liberty City, San Andreas, and Vice City. There's no indication that other cities in spinoff games will be there, though.
Here is the video where the analyst talks about the info from his "sources" who are reportedly familiar with the game's development:
With the game's scale, Pachter also infers that it could take as much as 500 hours to completely beat an insane number, considering how most big AAA games these days could be fully completed in 100-200 hours at most.
Rockstar Games finally confirmed that "GTA 6" is in development in a community update post on their website. It was an extremely subtle reveal by all intents and purposes, as it was more or less a footnote in the post. But beyond that, Rockstar didn't share anything else.
As for the game's release date, it's still quite far off. A rumored release window of April 2023-March 2024 was posited by analysts from Axios (via WCCFTech). They inferred a potential release date based on Rockstar parent company Take-Two numbers.
With a release window like that, one can assume that "GTA 6" is going to be a current-gen exclusive. That is, no release on the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One: only on the PS5 and the Xbox Series consoles and PC.

'GTA 6's' Lengthy Development Process
Aside from the insane claim that "GTA 6" could be a "four to five hundred hour" game, Pachter also mentioned how long the game has been in active development, and it's apparently spent a long time in the works.
He mentioned that development on "GTA 6" started way back in 2014-around a year after releasing "GTA 5." But that was likely only the game's conceptualization phase, as Pachter also claimed that Rockstar could only start writing code by 2015.
If these claims are true, then you're looking at a decade-long development process for a major AAA release (assuming that the game will release in 2024 at the latest). This puts "GTA 6" in the same boat as games like "The Last Guardian" (9 years), "Final Fantasy XV" (10 years), "Diablo III" (11 years), and perhaps even "Duke Nukem Forever" (15 years), all of which basically took forever to make, as listed by The Gamer.
