In Icarus, players need to survive by gathering resources, building shelters, crafting equipment and structures, and hunting for food, all while clearing its Prospect Missions and explore its several biomes.
Along their progression in the game, they will notice that they will be receiving several Status Effects that could either boost them or affect them negatively. They can get these effects once they eat food, enter a biome, hunt or attack wild animals, and other tasks that they can do within Icarus.
Status Effect Explained
As mentioned earlier, players can receive Status Effects in Icarus after doing an action in the multiplayer survival game. According to LevelSkip, they usually see these effects in the lower left corner of their Character Inventory screen.
From there, they will see the Active Status Effects that has either green or red icons. These icons will determine if the said effect is either a positive one or a negative one.

Players can get the Positive Status Effects from the things that they can control. These effects can become an essential part of their survival in the game, especially in conquering its difficult challenges.
For example, eating berries that are growing from the bushes, according to Segment Next, can give them +50 maximum stamina and +75 maximum health.
Eating cooked fish, on the other hand, can give them +15 health regeneration per minute, +75 maximum stamina, and +100 maximum health, and eating cooked meat can give them +10 health regeneration per minute, +75 maximum stamina, and +100 maximum health.
The effect from eating berries will last for 600 seconds, while eating cooked fishes and meats will last for 900 seconds.
Resting can give them the Well Rested Status Effect, which it can provide +10% of their maximum health and health regeneration, as well as +5 maximum stamina and +5% stamina generation, while staying in front of a campfire can give them the Warm and Cozy Status Effect, which it provides +50% health and stamina regeneration and +10% experience gained and heat resistance.
The former will last for 600 seconds, while the latter will stay active as long as they are in front of the said fire source.
If they die in the game, the Death Run Status Effect will trigger, which will give them +10% movement speed, -20% stamina consumed, and -15% perceived threat, but only in Stealth Mode, for 30 seconds.
On the other hand, if they experience harsh conditions such as those from the weather in a specific biome, as well as threats such as attacks from the wild animals, they will receive Negative Status Effects. Most of them can affect their health; therefore, they will need to avoid them.
If they fall from a significant height, they will get a Broken Leg Status Effect, which according to eip.gg, they will receive -50% movement speed, -25% stamina regeneration, +25% food consumption, and -50% weight capacity. In order to remove this effect, they need to use a splint on them.
If they take damage from an attack of a wild animal, they will get the Wound Status Effect, which can cause them -80% health regeneration, unless they heal themselves with a bandage, while taking a Deep Wound, if they do not heal themselves with a suture kit, will cause -25% maximum health and stamina, and -95% health regeneration
If they do not treat the Deep Wound, it will evolve into a Festering Wound Status Effect, which can also cause +10% water consumption and -5% experience gained aside from the effects from Deep Wound. In order to treat it, they must use an anti-parasitic paste.
If their water level is at 0%, they will receive the Dehydrated Status Effect, which can cause +2 Thirst Level, +6 stamina regeneration delay from Depleted, +2 seconds to stamina regeneration delay, -50% stamina regeneration, and 2 damage per tick.
If they are over-encumbered, or when they carry too much weight in their inventory, they will get the Heavy Status Effect, which will decrease their movement speed to 70%.
If their Temperature gauge reaches its minimum, they will receive the Frosty Status Effect, which can decrease their movement speed to 15% and stamina regeneration to 10%
Being Cold for an extended length of time, on the other hand, will give them Hypothermia Status Effect, which cause 2 Damage per tick, -50% maximum stamina and stamina regeneration, -10% water consumption and movement speed, and +30% food consumption.
Finally, if they stayed in the cave or in the underground for too long, they will get the Pneumonia Status Effect, which will decrease health regeneration and maximum stamina by 50% and their XP gain by 10%.
