Since the official announcement of “Red Dead Redemption 2”, Rockstar have kept rather silent on further updates, but this has not stopped the anticipating fans from entertaining themselves with the released trailer for the game and noticing certain similarities between it and a movie from the not so far away past.
GameRant reports that the official trailer for “Red Dead Redemption 2” pays homage to the Kevin Spacey western from 2003 – “Open Range”. Fans have managed to notice some big similarities between the trailer and the motion picture, as both of them start from a dim barn, RDR2 has added cattle and a cowboy passing after it. It has to be noted, that Rockstar has never shied away from popular culture or other mediums of entertainment when it comes to building their games. The world of GTA V is a testament to their dedication in pursuing the mix between popularity and authenticity to create an immersive world.
Some time ago, IGN released a material, presenting “Red Dead Redemption 2” as Rockstar’s newest project. They explained the similarities and differences between the two games. The game will take place in the same world as the previous one, revealing stories from New Austin, West Elizabeth, and Nuevo Paraiso, as seen through the eyes of John Marston’s son. Whether he will be avenging the death of his father or will go pursuing an adventure of his own is not certain, but knowing Rockstar games, there will be a way to make all of this happen.
Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick commented in a GameSpot interview, that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have a multiplayer feature implemented. When asked if there is some worry of RDR2’s multiplayer segment being in direct competition to the one of GTA V, he claimed that there is no such worry in him, as the two games could always be played simultaneously, without the need of full dedication to one of them. This still does not evade the fear of a shallow, short single player campaign, in favor of expanding the multiplayer service. Rockstar have once managed to juggle both GTA V’s SP and MP, but will the success of GAT V’s multiplayer make then forget the single player experience? “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be released in Fall 2017, for PS4 and XBOX One.
