Earlier this week speculations began to spread that "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" might get a Nintendo Switch release. It appears that official Twitter account for the Ubisoft RPG has posted a message that hinted a Switch version is on the way. Unfortunately, a representative from the Comedy Central tv show reportedly confirmed that the game will not be released for the hybrid game system.
Sources claimed that the show's official account posted a GIF that shows Cartman frozen in a snowstorm. The post carried a caption that said "Nin-ten-do. I'm coming. I'm coming, Nin-ten-do. #blizzard2017." This obviously led fans to suspect that the sequel to "South Park: The Stick of Truth" will make an appearance on the new game system. However, reports have confirmed that the quote was taken from Episode 12 of the show's 2006 season, says Game Rant
The posted scene apparently happened because Cartman wanted to skip waiting for the Nintendo Wii release. He came up with the decision to freeze himself in order to avoid the long wait for the console. The post supposedly caught the attention of several NeoGAF and Reddit users, who began to suspect that Ubisoft will add the Nintendo Switch as another platform for "South Park: The Fractured Buy Whole".
Analysts have speculated that the post's hashtag #Blizzard2017 might have a clue that the quote was not about the Nintendo game system version. It seems that a winter storm has hit much of the Northeast area that includes New York City. The studio is located in the affected area, which could have been the reason for the tweet.
According to IGN, the studio shared a statement via Comedy Central to put a stop to the rumors. The representative confirmed that "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" will not have a Nintendo Switch version at all. Moreover, Ubisoft did not have any comments about the issue. The game has been reportedly delayed due to development issues but is expected to release for the PS4, PC and Xbox One sometime between 2017 and 2018.
