During the official Nintendo Switch reveal presentation, Nintendo was able to talk about the gaming system's selling point, which is the ability to play full-featured games anywhere. Users apparently just have to remove the Switch from its dock to go portable and just slide it back in for big-screen gaming in a jiffy. The company also reportedly announced that the new device's battery life in portable mode lasts 2.5 to six hours depending on the software and settings.
It's understandable that consumers would like to know how well it performs and how long its battery lasts. According to a report from Siliconera, they have reportedly tested the actual battery performance by playing "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" on a fully-charged and undocked console. It was noted that the device prompted users about the battery when the system hit a one percent charge left.
After going through several Battery life warning prompts from the Nintendo Switch, its battery gave up after a total of two hours and 48 minutes. The next process included another test to verify the time it takes to fully charge a drained Switch. The game system reportedly reached 45 percent after one hour of charging. Two hour and 11 minutes after got the battery up to 90 percent, while a total of three hours and four minutes completely charged the device to a 100 percent.
Other than battery life, there were a couple of takeaways that were noted before the battery test was initiated. The system approximately features only 25.9GB of total storage space available out of the box, since the system files also take up space on the same flash memory. A newsfeed tab located on the left portion of the screen pops up when it switches from sleep mode. Players can create eight user profiles on a single device.
Another Nintendo Switch report from Time also confirmed the previously reported battery life of the system while playing the same game. The article also notes that the system charges slowly even while docked as long as the user is playing something on the system. The Nintendo Switch becomes available on March 3, 2017 and retails for $299.
