Bethesda game director Todd Howard recently discussed the number of daily players that still play "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and "Fallout 4." Both games were released on 2011 and 2015 respectively and seems to continuously have players coming back to play. Howard suspects that gamers are attracted to the remastered edition of "Skyrim," while new updates for "Fallout 4" could have enticed players back to the game.
Gamespot recently interviewed the game director and talked about his opinion about working again on "Skyrim" after years of handling the latest "Fallout" title. Howard described the experience as "it was like seeing an old friend from high school" and realized that "you missed spending time together." He noted that being able to view the game not as a developer made him notice a lot about how the game was designed.
Moreover, Todd Howard made a small comparison between "Fallout 4" and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." He pointed out that "Skyrim" has an open-ended story approach. "Fallout" on the other hand, features a linear story with side quests dotted about. However, the director noted that both games are only different through "how content is presented." He also claimed that Bethesda is really invested to deliver great stories within open-world games and will continue to do so with its future projects.
Regarding the Nintendo Switch, the game director was reportedly fascinated with the gaming system's concept. "I think it's really smart what they have done" and "it's the kind of device that only Nintendo could make," said Howard. The RPG developers are also apparently excited to deliver "Skyrim" to Nintendo fans. Game Rant reports that the new Gaming system obviously impressed him, but he could not make a definite prediction about the Switch's success saying "I don't know where it's gonna go."
Some fans are most likely waiting for Bethesda to eventually port over "Fallout 4" given that "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Other sources speculate that it might be possible in the future, but might be dependent on how well "Skyrim" does after the game launches for the Nintendo System. So far its seems that Todd Howard is definitely interested to work on the hybrid console.
