Surgeon Simulator was one of the cult hits of last year, and for good reason. After all, it's not every game that lets you slam dunk a brain or perform surgery on an alien. Difficult controls gave the game a fair amount of challenge, and a mini ARG kept things interesting for when the good Dr. Burke was content to fiddle with a dated computer and make phone calls while Bob lay on the operating table lifelessly.
Console gamers are still left out in the cold, but anyone with an iPad is in good luck as the modern day equivalent to "Operation" is now available on the iOS tablets, but with a few more options thrown in. For example, as a press release detailed, no longer is Dr. Burke a screaming failure of a medical doctor, it seems he's now a dental school dropout to boot.
Making Bob's shiny chompers look like they belong to Gary Busey after a meth binge is now possible, as teeth transplants are now an option. Same goes for Bob's bright blues, but that's a considerably messier enterprise.
The game is also a bit easier now, as the twitchy keyboard controls have been replaced by the iPad's signature touch screen controls. Awkward button presses and mouse clicks are now a thing of the past, but that doesn't mean the game will be a walk through the park. For example, gamers looking for an additional challenge can choose to abandon performing surgeries in the sterile operating theater, and try to do the same while rocketing through hospital halls on a moving trolley.
Beyond that, the game also boasts 50 new achievements, a multiplayer mode, and the ability to record and upload botched surgeries to share with your fellow mad surgeon buddies.
If you happen to be reading this on your iPad, you can grab the game from the App Store here for $5.99. Check out the trailer below.
