Players are looking forward to the official launch date of the Nintendo Switch on March 3, 2017. Recent news has noted that Nintendo President Kimishima Tatsumi has been promoting the console aggressively. In his most recent interview, Tatsumi revealed that their newest game system's success will be greatly influenced by their paid online service.
The service will reportedly cost somewhere in between $18 and $27, which is a whole lot cheaper than the competition. Players are expected to use a smartphone app to configure its voice chat and multiplayer options. In his Time interview, the gaming company president assured consumers that their annual service will be worth paying for. He also confirmed that the company believes their price point will attract more consumers.
Kimishima Tatsumi also confirmed that Nintendo Switch users who subscribe to their online service will get a free NES or SNES game, albeit good for a month only. However, if players prefer to keep playing the game, they can choose to purchase the title. Other reports claim Nintendo's online service doesn't really offer anything different, but it is currently a cheaper service compared to the competition.
Until now, consumers have yet to see how the online subscription's finer details work, but Kimishima preferred to talk more about the possible features their latest game system might offer. One of the topics he discussed during his interview was the possibility of VR support for the Switch. The Nintendo President confirms that their console is indeed capable, but their development team doubts that it would be a fun experience for gamers for the time being.
Game Rant notes that the Nintendo Switch "Super Bowl LI" commercial was a considerable success. It reportedly received close to four million views a few days after its debut. It seems Kimishima Tatsumi's talk about their online service being important is continuing to add to the console's hype. Pre-orders for the hybrid game console obviously continue to soar.
