HTC One Successor "M8" Rumor Round-Up: Leaked Video and Photos of Device

It's hard to keep any announcement in the tech world completely under wraps these days, with someone nearly always finding a way to get some leaked pictures or spec details online. We saw it with the Samsung Galaxy S5 info leak before its unveiling, and we're seeing it again with the successor to the popular HTC One before its launch.

Codenamed M8, it appears multiple pictures of a Chinese retail unit have been put up online, giving us not just a glimpse, but a thorough view of the phone we're likely to see at launch. It's metallic, it's silver, and it looks pretty good if unspectacular.

We have yet to get a real name for the phone, but we should soon know the official details relatively soon as its March 25 reveal gets closer. For now, we'll have to make do with the leaked details we've gotten, which have included more than photos of the device.

A video, below, of the phone surfaced last month (created by the child of an HTC employee, violating the NDC his father had signed)

Its duo camera feature (see the two lenses on the back) is one of the main talking points, though we don't know exactly what it will be used for. Most likely, it seems it will improve 2D image capture (particularly depth of field) and provide more effects possible with only two lenses.

The screen and phone itself are slightly larger than the HTC One, and the touch buttons along the button have been replaced by on-screen versions. As expected, it will come with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat, and a new Sense interface.

It's supposedly going to contain the Snapdragon 801 processer, the same chip found in the Galaxy S5, and will be coming to all carriers. Stay tuned for more leaked and official info as the official reveal later this month approaches.
