After announcing earlier this month that Tokyo RPG Factory's turn-based role-playing game will release on Switch sometime in March, Square Enix has confirmed that "I Am Setsuna" will be available as a digital title on March 3.
Nintendo revealed a lot of information about the console during its live press conference, answering many of the questions we've held about the Switch for many, many months. A short press release by Square Enix, issued last Jan 23, was light on details but did call out one of the new game modes designed specifically for Nintendo's new console called "Temporal Battle Arena."
The Temporal Battle Arena will allow players to battle against each other's parties. According to Video Game 24/7, the Nintendo Switch version of "I Am Setsuna" will feature some exclusive content.
"I Am Setsuna" released last year for PlayStation 4 and Steam. The game centers around a powerful young woman named Setsuna who embarks on a journey of self-sacrifice to save the people of her homeland says Gematsu.
"I Am Setsuna" isn't a "Chrono Trigger-like" it's just a game that might easily have existed in the same time, if a creator with different storytelling sensibilities had been around. Its strength comes not from the ways in which it emulates the conventions of the classics, but in the ways in which it defies them.
"I Am Setsuna" launched on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Windows PC last July. The game reviewed well, where it was called a "somber yet joyful nostalgia trip." Players take on the role of a hero accompanying Setsuna, a young woman sent to be ritualistically sacrificed in order to save her village.
"I Am Setsuna" is the first game from Tokyo RPG Factory, a studio founded by Square Enix in order to revitalize classic JRPGs on modern consoles. What do you think of Nintendo Switch's digital launch title? Share your thoughts below.
