PC Theater-based Beat ‘em Up 'Foul Play' Coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita

PC Theater-based Beat ‘em Up 'Foul Play' Coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita [VIDEO]

Foul Play is yet another PC indie game headed to the PlayStation 4 and Vita in Sony's pursuit to make their consoles indie friendly and all inclusive. This is by no means a bad thing, as the Vita has quickly built up a nice catalog of games from new developers that got their start on PC.

Foul Play is a Victorian-era co-op side-scrolling brawler that released on Steam back in September. It received average to favorable review scores, placing it at 69/100 on Metacritic.

Luke Borrett of the game's developer Mediatonic, went to the PlayStation Blog to detail the game's upcoming PlayStation port. In terms of new content, there doesn't seem to be any announcements at this time aside from new difficulty modes. The team is still working on the game's optimization for the two consoles, planning on the game being 1080p and at 60FPS on the PlayStation 4.

But what is Foul Play? Well, this little brawler is a “theater-based beat 'em up” starring a Victorian Daemonologist by the name of Baron Dashforth. Gameplay is centered around entertaining the theater's audience; everything done is all part of a performance and there are no real monsters, just trained actors.

Combos must be done to keep the audience happy by use of a Mood-o-Meter instead of a traditional health bar. This little brawler has a cute premise and twist on what's typically expected from brawlers: lots of violence. Plus, Baron Dashforth totally looks like the Monopoly Guy.

Foul Play does not currently have a release date, but it's said to be coming sometime this year.
