Both the console version and mobile port of Injustice: Gods Among Us offer gamers some of the biggest names from not only the DC Universe, but comics as a whole -- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, the game's roster is a veritable who's who of the medium. The console versions may have a bit over the mobile thanks to DLC, but as of today, the mobile game is getting its own exclusive character - the New God Darkseid.
According to a press release, "Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced that Darkseid, the diabolical DC Comics character, has joined the Injustice: Gods Among Us roster exclusively for the mobile game." And what's more, "to celebrate the introduction of Darkseid to Injustice: Gods Among Us, a special challenge event will take place from March 6th - 24th, giving players the chance to compete in a time-sensitive series of battles that, once completed, rewards them with an exclusive Gold Character Card."
Darkseid had a small cameo in Gods Among Us. Players unlucky enough to be knocked into the teleporter in the Hall of Justice would find themselves face to face with the New God. For interrupting his quiet time, Darkseid would soundly pummel them, and throw them right back into the teleporter with a blast of Omega Beams hot on their tail.
But it's only here and now in the mobile game that he'll be playable, and with a shiny new costume to boot.
Scores for the mobile basher are a bit mixed depending on where you get for reviews, but it's still popular, having hit a billion separate game play sessions back in January.
The mobile versions come with unlocks for the game on console versions, and at no cost. But with touchscreen controls, it's a different experience then pummeling Supes on console. Unlike other iOS / Android fighters like Marvel Superheroes, or Street Fighter Volt, there's no virtual joystick, so player movement is controlled automatically. Light attacks, heavy attacks, super movies and special moves are all present, but sans joystick, they're performed by simple taps on the game screen.
