Twitch Plays Pokemon Elite Four: The Players Amazingly Made it to the End of the Game, Watch Them Try to Win Live [Video]

Social Experiment Twitch Plays Pokemon Have Miraculously Almost Beaten the Game, Watch Them Take on the Elite Four

Twitch Plays Pokemon, the internet phenomenon where Pokemon Red is played by instructions typed in the chat by thousands of viewers simultaneously, has managed the seemingly impossible: they've reached the Elite Four. Not only that, they almost won the game--watch them try again live.

The Elite Four are the final bosses of the game, the last challenge in the player's quest to become the very best, like no one ever was. Playing alone, it can be pretty tough. Playing with thousands of other people pressing random buttons at once, and you would assume it's an unachievable goal.

Despite the osbtacles, the live stream just got there and they beat all four members, miraculously taking out Lance in a close battle. As any player knows though, the last confrontation is actually against your rival, the champion who beat the Elite Four first. It's here where the stream immediately faltered, having only one Pokemon left from their previous battles.

I'm genuinely amazed that they got this far, honestly. I suppose through sheer numbers, the amount of people who want to actually progress in the game outweighed the viewers trying to cause chaos. Still, considering that it's difficult to get anywhere with everyone pressing buttons even if you are all trying to help, I'm quite impressed.

The stream is going right at it again, so tune in on Twitch through the link, and you could even get involved. Maybe they'll win it this time, though it's looking like a bleak start. If you stay tuned though, the players will keep trying. It's bound to lead to success eventually...right?
