PlayStation 4 is doing extremely well in hardware sales, beating out the Xbox One by a decent margin and selling well in all regions. Unfortunately its software lineup at launch, and since then, isn't exactly filled to the brim with great games.
There are a few good titles in there, and some great downloadable games such as Resogun and Don't Starve, but a general criticism has been that there isn't much to play on the system. Blacklight: Retribution is a free-to-play first person shooter that's available on PC and has been on PS4 since launch, but hasn't been talked about much.
It's actually quite a good game considering that it's totally free, and now it's getting a pretty significant update to offer even more fun to the console's early adopters. If you're low on games you want to play on your system, Blacklight is a good option, and should improve with the update. Here are some of the details of what's being added:
-Two new maps, Decay, a slum fortress where players fight across rooftops of abandoned buildings, and Metro, which is a (you guessed it) abandoned subway station in narrow corridors.
-Onslaught Mode, a horde-style gametype where players work together to fight off waves of enemies.
-New private servers that allow you to set up invite-only matches to play in, well, private.
The developers are also making matchmaking improvements through host selection and migration tweaks. The patch should also see improved frame rates and faster load times. The patch will automatically be applied through PSN when you play the game.
