“The Last of Us” was one of Naughty Dog’s biggest hits released for the PS 3. Since its release people have been wondering about a sequel and now, the veil has been lifted, revealing that the game may have been teased long before anyone had even suspected.
According to Euro Gamer, back in September Naughty Dog had teased about “The Last of Us 2” without anyone taking notice of the fact. A limited poster of a hand, holding a switchblade was released and in it hides the reveal of the second game. The hand has an impressive tattoo of a moth, with twisting branches around it. According to the studio, the poster was released so cosplayers could have a reference to the tattoo. It was this month, when fans realized that the hand holding the switchblade belongs to no one else, but the grown Ellie who was one of the main characters in the original title.
Games Radar reports that back in July, Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog was giving an interview to the Southern California Public Radio. In the interview he said that he was working on a new title, which will concentrate on people and the events that shape them as a person. According to him, the main concept of the story will be one which he had heard quite a few times during his childhood “Everything happens for a reason."
The time at which the interview was given was after the release of the new “Uncharted” game, which most probably means that he was hinting the story of “The Last of Us 2”. Now, an official statement from Druckmann says that the story of the new game will revolve around hate. Ellie is heard threatening an unknown enemy and maybe that will be the driving force behind her.
Those of you who want to feel a touch of the universe of “The Last of Us 2” can now do it through the game’s soundtrack. In the announcement trailer for “The Last of Us 2”, Ellie is seen playing a guitar and singing a song. The song has been made available on Spotify by the original performer. The performer’s name is “Shawn James & The Shapeshifters” and the song is called “Through the Valley”. Those of you who do not have access to spotify may listen to the song through the band’s bandcamp page.
There is still no official release date for the game, but it is expected to be released in 2017.
