It was announced last month that Resident Evil 4, a beloved entry in the famous franchise, will be getting a high-definition PC edition through Steam, and we now know the details of its release. Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition will be available on February 27 for $19.99, with bonus content including art and music if you pre-purchase the game.
The title previously saw an HD version make its way to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011 following several other ports to the PS2 and Wii after its initial release on the Gamecube in 2005. There was also a PC version released in 2007, without the upgrades of the new ultimate edition.
Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition is going to feature Steam support as well as, "sharper textures, crisper text, and a silky smooth 60fps framerate." Pre-purchasing the game now will get you an 80-page digital art archive and the official 62-track soundtrack.
The long-running Resident Evil franchise has remained popular since the first game's release in 1996, with the series selling over 60 million units worldwide.
Perhaps the most critically acclaimed and revolutionary game in the series, Resident Evil 4 took the franchise on a more action-oriented path on its original platform, the Gamecube, and looked fantastic while doing it.
