Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Leaked: Camera Features and Touch Sensor Details

Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Leaked

Samsung-dedicated site SamMobile is reporting details regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, particularly the camera, on the heels of its reported touch sensor. The camera sensor will supposedly be 16 Megapixel and able to record video in 4K "ultra HD", the next big technology coming to television sets.

The S5 will also boast a return to the dedicated camera button, but it will be an invisible sensor on the side of the device Samsung is calling "Side Touch". SamMobile are saying it won't be usable in portrait mode, but otherwise you would simply tap the bottom right side of the device to snap a photo.

Samsung has reportedly kept the camera modes it introduced on the Galaxy S4 and added a multitude of others such as "3D Tour Shot", "Aqua", and "Sound & Shot". 3D Tour purportedly is used to "create interactive virtual tours of your surroundings" while Sound & Shot "enriches your pictures by adding a few seconds of background sound".

These and other modes sound interesting, and should add a lot of dynamism to your photography sessions if true. There are more modes and camera filters which can be seen on their post linked above, as well as downloadable custom camera modes.

The fingerprint sensor, which was first uncovered several days ago, can be used to unlock the device, much like on the iPhone 5s, but your fingerprint can also be used as an app shortcut and the device can store up to 8 fingerprint identities.

SamMobile states they decided not to post screenshots so that Samsung can reveal some of this themselves, likely at the Unpacked Event on February 24. These are reports that are still unofficial, so don't take them as fact, but these and more could likely be confirmed by Samsung at the event.
