Here on this particular chunk of rock hurtling through space, Valentine's Day is always about chocolates and roses, unless you happened to be living in Chicago back in the Prohibition Days, and that's what Gearbox is alluding to with its latest Headhunter Pack for Borderlands 2, Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre, which is out today.
While Al Capone's buddies were able to line up their victims for no fuss lotta muss "victory" on that fateful day, there's no such thing as an easy kill -- or a wedding for that matter -- on Pandora. But Borderlands' busty bartender Mad Moxxi is doing her best to ensure that this particular holy day of matrimony will go off without a hitch, but she'll need the Vault Hunters help to do so.
The story revisits the Pandoran equivalant of the Hatfield-McCoy debacle, the Hodunk-Zaford feud. A Goliath from each family will be married soon, and to make sure nothing goes wrong, Moxxi sends the Vault Hunters on a fetch quest to mix up some spanish fly. This being Borderlands, of course nothing will go smoothly. Familiar faces like Moxxi's big boned daughter Ellie and the Innuendo Bot 5000 also show up again.
Like we've seen with other holiday Headhunter packs, like the Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler for Thanksgiving, or How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day for Christmas, Mad Moxxi's titular piece of DLC comes complete with its own holiday themed heads and skins. In this pack, the Vault Hunters show that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder with heads that only a mother could love. Gamers can snag the pack now for $3.
With Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre now available, gamers have one last piece of DLC to look forward to before Gearbox closes its doors on Borderlands 2. The company announced that the final Headhunter Pack DLC is due out in April as Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax. We'll have more details on that as the information comes in. We also learned today that the game will be part of a bundle with the thinner and slimmer PS Vita, due out this Spring, and keep your eyes peeled for Telltale's take on the Borderlands universe, Tales From the Borderlands.
