Heavenly Sword Movie Trailer Released - CG Film Almost Here Voiced by Anna Torv, Alfred Molina, and Thomas Jane

A Trailer for the Heavenly Sword Movie

Last year news about "Heavenly Sword: The Movie" hit, a feature-length CG film developed by Blockade Entertainment, and today we have a look at it. They just released this new trailer and watch out, because "There's a new girl in town..." ... ugh.

The story of both the film and the game revolves around the titular sword, which has made its way into the hands of Nariko, a red-headed warrior who was born in the year of the prophesied divine warrior. She fights against King Bohan, the tyrannical ruler of the land who's trying to take over Nariko's clan.

And now it's a CG film! Voice actors for it include Anna Torv ("Fringe") returning as the lead character Nariko, Alfred Molina ("Raiders of the Lost Ark") playing King Bohan and Thomas Jane ("The Punisher") voicing Loki. Andy Serkis played King Bohan in the game but I doubt many would take umbrage with an acting heavy like Molina filling his shoes. "Drive Angry" screenwriter Todd Farmer also lent his pen to this film.

This isn't the first time Nariko has been animated- along with the original release of the game Sony commissioned a prequel short consisting of five episodes that detailed the origin of Nariko, a few of which were included on the game disc. That was a much different style than the game though, a more traditional 2D animation by CHASE animation studios.

Strange choice for a feature length film though, isn't it? Heavenly Sword was a nice hit for the PS3 but that was seven years ago, and while they tried to make a second game it was canceled, the developer working on Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DmC: Devil May Cry instead since then. Sony still retains the rights to the Heavenly Sword so they could find another developer to do it if they really wanted to. The film about the same quality as a game cutscene too, which makes you wonder why they didn't put the emphasis on another game instead.

But without further ado, the latest "Heavenly Sword: The Movie" trailer, courtey of IGN.
