"Destiny" is one of the most popular game titles for the PS4 and the Xbox One. 2016 was a year for great games like "Overwatch" and "Uncharted 4." With a plethora of new updates in 2017, Bungie promises to unveil more updates next year.
Bungie has said in a recent statement that "Destiny" is never finished. It's the availability of fresh content that makes Bungie ahead of rival competition. "No Man's Sky" should take notes.
The Festive "Dawning Event" For The Guardians
Talking about fresh content, "Destiny" recently released a new trailer for The Dawning event. It is a returning holiday event for the game. It includes new exotic quests, the return of the Icebreaker and Sparrow Racing. The festive 'Destiny' event runs for three weeks and will culminate on January 3 next year.
Players will also receive free gifts during each week of The Dawning event. Giving freebies is a recipe that'll always work and "GTA Online" has done the same thing every year. Bungie has always appreciated the positive feedback that has received from players worldwide. The developer rewards the "Guardians" with hours of new gameplay.
According to Express, Bungie developers will be back in creating content after the holidays. Following the success of "The Taken King" expansion for "Destiny," the company has always looked for ways to give gamers new content.
'Destiny' By The Numbers Since 2014
In the numbers posted by Destiny Tracker, the game has 7,955,635 active players daily. Registered users may reach more than 30 million. We are not sure of how much Bungie has earned for "Destiny," but a 2015 lawsuit may give us an idea. According to the infamous Marty O'Donnell lawsuit, the game has actually earned $500 million in pre-order and day one sales. That's a lot of money for a one-day revenue.
So far, both Bungie and Activision are silent on the game's actual numbers. But other than that, everybody knows that "Destiny" is one big game thanks to fresh content.
