It's kind of difficult to have a Castlevania game without Dracula, so obviously, Gabriel, re-christened as the legendary bloodsucker, is primed to return in Lords of Shadow 2, but the game's cast consists of more familiars than just the prince of darkness, and Konami has put out a new trailer to show 'em off.
As a press release noted, "The new trailer highlights footage from the game to introduce a range of key characters and adversaries from the new installment including; Dracula, once Gabriel, a member of the Brotherhood of Light who fought to avenge the death of his beloved wife Marie, but fate got the better of him, transforming him into Dracula - the most feared of all vampires. Also returning is Zobek, one of the founders of the Brotherhood of Light, who is, in reality, one of the evil Lords of Shadow who betrayed Gabriel and all of humanity. Carmilla, Marie and Satan himself make a return, in addition to a slew of new characters. The new trailer also showcases some previously unseen locations and environments."

The Castlevania franchise has been around for close to 30 years now, but this will be the first time in its history that players will actually take on the role of Dracula, an icon of horror since Bram Stoker first penned the eponymous novel at the end of the 19th century. The game will also be one of the first to really show how the vamper interacts with the modern day world, instead of an obscure and distant Belmont ancestor flailing back and forth in a 2D castle.
According to Producer Dave Cox, the game will end the short but sweet Shadow saga. With it, Konami and company are "looking to provide series fans yet another nail biter, complete with Dracula's resurrection and the Belmont clan's desire for his final destruction."
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC on February 25.
