"Big in Japan" wasn't coined for no reason. But you know what, anything Japanese is similarly devoured in the West. That includes these Japanese games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita that are getting Western release dates, for quite the obvious reason. Note that the games listed below all have "final" release dates. Anything with a TBA, TBD or with a vague Q1 to Q4 2017 release date is not included.
"Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea" (PS Vita)
Set for January 17, 2017, "Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea" is going to be Vita-exclusive. The game was previously released for PS3 last year and was ported to the Vita in Japan back in March, reports PlayStation Lifestyle.
"Digimon World: Next Order" (PS4)
Up for grabs come January 31, 2017 is "Digimon World: Next Order" for PS4. As we all know, its gameplay is a dead ringer for the "Pokémon" titles. It's worth a shot though.
"Dragon Quest Heroes 2" (PS4 &PS Vita)
The sequel to "Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below" is not as mouthful as the previous title, but it should be handful on PS4 and PS Vita. Set for April 25, 2017, it's available for PS3 as well.
"Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star" (PS4 &PS Vita)
Gamers who love flamboyant costumes are in for a treat when "Fate/Extella" releases on January 17, 2017 for PS4 and PS Vita. Europe will get it three days later, January 20, as per GamenGuide.
"Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" (PS4)
On January 12, 2017, another confusing title to the "Kingdom Hearts" series will be available on the PS4 console. Love it or hate, you gotta admit the first game was amazing and hopefully, this one too!
"NieR: Automata" (PS4)
The sequel to Square Enix's "NIER" will be available on March 7, 2017 for PS4. The game will take place several years after the original's fourth ending, which wiped your entire game save.
"Persona 5" (PS4)
The latest installment to the popular JRPG series will drop April 4, 2017 for PS4. Lovers of anything Japanese (at least in the gaming world) know for a fact that getting out of the "Persona" hype is a feat so mighty.
"Tales of Berseria" (PS4)
Scheduled for January 24, 2017 is the 16th entry in the "Tales" series overall. The game has come a long and will continue on for PS4 maybe forever.
"Yakuza 0" (PS4)
Also to release on January 24, 2017 for PS4 is the prequel to the open-world adventure "Yakuza" series. Seriously, you can't get any more Japanese than this.
